30 Pirates Exclusive — Final Fantasy XIII DLC Coming!
If you are like me, you blew through Final Fantasy XIII so quick that it left you wanting more game, and more game simply wasn’t there. Well, not for long! In a ground breaking press release, Square has revealed that Final Fantasy XIII will be the first Final Fantasy game with downloadable content!
The new DLC package will, according to Square representatives, “give fans everything they want.” The first DLC package will include 37 new Cie’th stone missions, bringing the total up to 101. These new missions will be extremely difficult and will feature appearances from some iconic enemies of Final Fantasies past, such as the Ultima Weapon. These new boss level characters will drop powerful equipment, and upon defeating them, players will be treated to hidden cut scenes that weren’t included in the first release, allowing players that defeat all of them to see more of the story than players who don’t. To complete some of these sidequests, players will have to backtrack through some of the previous areas of Cocoon, which will be re-opened once the DLC pack is installed.
A second DLC package will include a vastly expanded Crystarium and equipment synthesis system.
The Crystarium will not only gain new levels with new abilities, but players will be able to choose an alternate, more free-form Crystarium build upon starting the game, much like the new version of the sphere-grid from Final Fantasy X’s international release. The equipment system will totally overhaul the way you level up your weapons and accessories. Now, weapons and accessories will evolve differently depending on what sort of loot items you used to give them XP. Through wise crafting, players will be able to gain weapons with stats and abilities far greater than anything the main game had. To make up for the more intensive crafting system, enemies will now drop Gil when defeated, thus making it easier to gain the materials needed.
A third DLC package will give players an option to play the game in “classic” mode, which will feature a much slower moving ATB for both allies and enemies, and full party control. This mode will also include a new map set that will be more expansive and non-linear and will feature multiple puzzles and several branching pathways. Characters will have to wait for their ATB to fill completely before making an action, and actions will once again cost MP. The classic Final Fantasy fanfare will also be returning, playing whenever a player completes a battle. In addition, this DLC package will include several optional battles and mini-games that will take the place of the longer in-game cinemas to make the game more interactive.
A fourth DLC package will be a copy of Dragon Age: Origins, with Final Fantasy character models and voice actors.
Producer Yoshinori Kitase said that these DLC packages were based off of the complaints most commonly found on the internet. He is confident that these DLC packages will finally give American gamers everything they truly want from Final Fantasy XIII.The DLC packages will cost 500 Gil each, but only if you gave your local Gamestop owner the mystic key that the shadow dragon stole from him thousands of years ago. April fools you spoony bards!

Dammit, this one got me.
I would love “classic mode” though. Maybe I could actually get through the game then.
That’s some good writing right there. I don’t even have the game. Planning on purchasing it soon, and this got me a little hyped up to have this available for dlc…haha…man i sure do hate April Fool’s day…haha
