4 New Marvel VS Capcom 3 Characters Revealed. Leaked Roster Becomes More Likely

Looks like our Comic Con present from Capcom came a little early this year. Capcom recently released three new videos for Marvel VS Capcom 3. While one is just a trailer detailing the characters we have already seen, two others reveal four characters that we totally haven’t seen before. It’s exciting!

The four characters revealed are Dr. Doom, Chun-Li, Super Skrull, and Trish. Now, many of us figured that both Doom and Chun-Li were going to make it into MVC3, but Skrull and Trish both came out of left field.

As for playstyles, Chun-Li and Dr. Doom both seem to play as we have seen in other installments of the series. Chun-Li plays almost exactly as she does in Tatsunoko VS. Capcom, while Dr. Doom seems to have his old moves from Marvel VS Capcom 2 in his repertoire, as well as some new ones, particularly a vertical projectile super which later splits up into a raining beam attack.

Skrull seems to be able to play a short range/long range mixup game, boasting moves that can hit low from across the screen, and very large expansion type moves that manage to move him where he needs to be. His supers involve a combo super, an AOE flame super, and a charging flame super similar to M. Bison’s Psycho Crusher.

Trish is another character that can fly, double jump, and air dash, which is great now that Universal air dash has been taken out. She, like Dante has a variety of projectiles and a weapon with very long reach. She seems to have two versions of a projectile barrage super, one in the air and one on the ground, and a super that involves her being able to throw her weapon and move around afterward, which may set up some interesting combo opportunities.

In addition, all the characters, including Chun-Li, are given new English voice actors. All of them do a great job, except for Doom’s which sounds a bit like that deep throated evil voice you make when you are playing pretend on a playground, or that Christian Bale employed throughout Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. To each their own I suppose.

At the end of the trailer a large silhouette was shown featuring yet more characters that will be in the game. Some of these silhouettes are obviously of characters that were previously revealed, such as Morrigan and Chun-Li, but we are certain we saw Viewtiful Joe among the mix too. What other characters do you see?

Perhaps the biggest side effect from this announcement is that the character roster that leaked a few weeks ago has become more plausible. For those of you that remember, this list was supposedly hacked off the official Japanese Capcom website. It’s just a list of file names, but thus far it has been totally correct.
