A Valkyria Chronicles 3 Teaser Site?

Let’s add some more fuel to the rumor fire. Recently it was revealed that Sega had reserved the domain name valkyria3.jp, leading many of us to believe that a Valkyria Chronicles 3 was on its way. Well, now we have even more rumors to chew on, as Sega has created one of the oft hated but always hyped countdown sites. The site is http://code1935.jp/, and all it shows is a silhouette of some very Valkyria Chronicles-esque characters, and a date. That date just so happens to be September 16th, the same date as the Tokyo Game Show. Might we be getting some new Valkyria Chronicles info when TGS goes down? Perhaps so. Until then all we can do is analyze the silhouettes the site gives us. So let’s do that!

Perhaps the biggest giveaways that this has something to do with Valkyria Chronicles are the tank in the front and the lances in the background. Only Valkyria Chronicles has those definitive spear-looking rocket launchers. The background also hosts plenty of other character types, with obvious candidates for scout rifles, sniper rifles, and sub machine guns for the troopers. However, if you look into the background some more, there are certainly some weapons we haven’t ever seen before.

For example, one of the character’s in the middle appears to have some sort of gun/sword that is bigger than his/her body. We have never seen that on a Valkyria Chronicles class before. Yet more characters appear to be holding pistols instead of rifles or sub machine guns, and pistols haven’t made it into a Valkyria Chronicles game yet either. Continuing on, we see non-lancer characters holding shields, one character appears to be holding a gun which looks oddly like a shot-gun, and some characters aren’t holding any guns at all!

So yeah it looks as if we are in for some serious gameplay changes for Valkyria Chronicles 3. Frankly, I am excited. Now, we just have to hope it comes to the PS3, and not the PSP. This game works so much better when it isn’t portable. Other than that, keep an eye out for more Valkyria Chronicles news when the Tokyo Game Show goes down this month.
