Avatar Isn’t All Hype
Information about James Cameron’s Avatar project has been kept so close to the vest that not many people know a whole lot about it, but what we do know is that it is in 3-D. In fact, James Cameron can’t stop ranting about how important 3-D is to the production of the film. Personally, we think 3-D films can be kind of hokey, but after reading a recent report from the Amsterdam Cinema Expo, in which 24 minutes of Avatar were shown, we may have become believers. Apparently, Avatar doesn’t shove 3-D into your face as many other 3-D movies do, with tons of shit flying at the screen every which way. Avatar just uses 3-D to make it feel naturalistic, as if it were the “right” way to see the movie, i.e. the way you would see something in real life. Artsy approach Cameron; let’s see if you can do the same with your much-bragged-about video game adaptation.[Comingsoon.net]
