That’s it. It’s official. Avatar has currently passed Titanic in sales. It is now the biggest movie of all time, and is getting very close to the astonishing mark of two billion dollars worldwide. It is a big announcement, though some question what exactly this says about Avatar, considering that Titanic was also a James Cameron movie. Now, with Avatar at #1 and Titanic at #2, the only person Cameron has to compete against is himself. Oddly enough, this isn’t because Avatar has sold more tickets than Titanic. Actually Titanic has still sold more tickets than Avatar as of the posting of this article. However, Avatar was in 3-D and 3-D tickets cost extra at a lot of theaters. You have to pay for the glasses after all. Let this be a lesson to you guys. When you see a 3-D movie, keep your glasses to save a few bucks. [Variety]
