Universal has confirmed that their adaptation of the classic Hasbro board game Battleship will be hitting theaters July 1, 2011. Written by Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber, Battleship will be “a contemporary story of an international five-ship fleet engaged in a very dynamic, violent and intense battle.” Peter Berg will be directing. Honestly, Berg, if you don’t make just one character say “you sunk my battleship!” we will all be very disappointed. [Variety]
