Now that Pierre Morel has taken the place of Peter Burg as the director of the new Dune movie, things are looking up. Wanting to remain true to the source material, Morel has decided that his version of Dune will follow Frank Herbert’s book very closely. Unfortunately, there is already a script written, and that script is very much not Frank Herbert material. So Morel has hired Chase Palmer to take a swing at the script. Supposedly, Palmer’s job is to not totally rewrite the script, but rather to push it closer to Morel’s vision. We are excited, but honestly we would have rather just seen a full rewrite. [THR]
