The Avengers has had everyone buzzing about who plays what Marvel superhero, but Hulk was not one that we really questioned all that much. Edward Norton did a great Bruce Banner back in the re-remake of The Hulk, so we all kind of figured that he would be stepping back into the strangely elastic purple underwear when The Avengers came to pass. Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the case.

MTV caught up with Norton at SXSW and asked him if he would be taking up the role of the Hulk once more. Norton’s plain as day answer was … no. That’s it, just a simple no. When he was prodded for a bit more info, Norton revealed that, first of all, Marvel has a lot of things on their plate and they have plenty of movies to make before even considering a Hulk sequel. Second of all, he doesn’t feel as if adding the Hulk to any Marvel movie will make the movie any better. With the possible exception of The Avengers, he would prefer The Hulk to stay within his own continuity.

Norton was also asked about the rumors that have been flying around about a possible Incredible Hulk sequel, and once again he dismissed the idea stating that Marvel has many more important things to do. Norton seems open to the idea at least, but he made it perfectly clear that he has not been contacted for any sort of Hulk role, and, additionally, that as far as he knows the studio hasn’t made any sort of decisions concerning The Hulk’s future. He says that he figures any sort of new Hulk movie is “a ways down the road” and that the best he can do is make the decision when that time comes.
