February Movies and Trailers— Cupid’s Got a Gun
February. The month of love. What better way to celebrate the month of hearts, flowers, and cupid than shooting the crap out of everything in the area. February has a lot of action movies coming up, and no small portion of them are crime dramas and other cop related action fests. So, if you are looking for a good Valentine’s Day date idea for your action-loving hubby, think about going to one of these movies. Oh, and if you absolutely must make-out in the movie theater, do it in the back so no one can see you. A little tact goes a long way. We are trying to watch things explode!
District 13: Ultimatum (Releases February 5th, 2010)
District B13 was an awesome movie because it had the founder of Parkour, David Belle, in it, and yes he did all of his own stunts. District 13: Ultimatum or D13-U as it is called, once again brings Cyril Raffaelli and David Belle together to jump off buildings, through windows, and off of all sorts of crazy shit. Of course there is some plot about district 13 descending further into pits of gang violence and drug dealing. Apparently the best way for the government to handle this is to take it out with a nuclear strike. It’s not the most intelligent government plan ever put into action, but whatever; no one particularly cares about the whole “plot” thing. David Belle is capable of some pretty ridiculous stunts and all we really want is to gawk over them while crushing the concession stand’s finest . Get ready to see some of the sickest Parkour chase sequences ever, this time with explosions!
From Paris With Love (Releases February 5th, 2010)
One day, director Pierre Morel shaved John Travolta’s head as a prank, and in the midst of Travolta’s inevitable rage, he thought up this movie. From Paris With Love puts together Jonathan Rhys Meyers and John Travolta as a buddy cop duo, one being the stereotypical straight-laced business cop, the other being Charlie Wax, the man who shoots first, then shoots again, then thinks about asking questions but only if he has had a few beers and shot someone first. It turns out that a routine drug bust is actually linked to a terrorist organization that poses a threat to the whole world, and it is up to Charlie Wax and his “guy in a suit” partner James Reese to save the day. Unfortunately, James Reese has a penchant for complaining and not shooting people when given the order. Oh, and he has a Parisian girlfriend who he has to juggle along with his CIA work. Oh, and Charlie Wax will probably get him killed dead. Yeah, just another normal day for the CIA in Paris.
Cop Out (Releases February 26th, 2010)
Cop Out was originally called A Couple of Dicks. Why? Because it was about two cops (Bruce Willis, Tracy Morgan) acting like a couple of dicks. Of course, all of this changes when they get hot on the trail of a rare, stolen mint-condition baseball card. Of course, they aren’t the only ones on the trail. The chase entangles them with the mafia as they face off against a memorabilia-obsessed gangster. Jimmy (Willis) and Paul (Morgan) use their unique skills of abusing the power of the law to track down the card, which is the only hope the duo have of paying for Jimmy’s daughter’s wedding. Wait, they aren’t going to turn it in? OK, I guess the dickery hasn’t stopped with the name change. Still, Willis and Morgan are hilarious in this action comedy that brings us back to the days of Lethal Weapon.
