Final Fantasy Versus XIII Might Come to Xbox?
For the longest time we all thought that Final Fantasy Versus XIII, the spin-off action-rpg to the original Final Fantasy XIII, was going to be a PS3 exclusive. Hell, it’s why some of us (namely me *grumble*) bought a PS3 in the first place. However, Final Fantasy XIII’s success on the Xbox 360 was quite astounding, so Squeenix is actually looking into the console for future distribution possibilities. One of these possibilities is Final Fantasy Versus XIII … OH GODDAMMIT SQUEENIX.
Yes, Yoichi Wada, the king high muckity muck over at Squeenix told investors that Squeenix is “looking into” the possibility for distributing Final Fantasy Versus XIII on the Xbox 360 as well as the PS3. Seems only natural after Final Fantasy XIII sold several million units worldwide. Apparently there are a lot of JRPG fans who jumped ship in this generation of consoles, and thus the Xbox 360 market is more lucrative for the genre than anyone once thought.
Of course there is no official announcement yet, buuuuut E3 is coming up in a month and Squeenix has said that they have a lot of surprises in store. Keep your fingers crossed.
Edit: Apparently Yoichi Wada decided to clarify his statement on Twitter. (Ah Twitter, is there anything you can’t do.) Apparently, he tweeted, “It seems the internet is getting excited. Versus on the Xbox? What was said at the investors meeting was only that until the official announcement is made everything about all titles is pending.”
What does this all mean? Well, he still hasn’t said “no”, of course, but he also hasn’t said yes. So don’t get too excited, but a bizarre voodoo ritual that may control Yoichi Wada’s mind into making the game multi-platform certainly couldn’t hurt.
