2001 Lost Footage

Douglas Trubell’s documentary about the making of 2001: A Space Odyssey is getting some much-needed hype to accompany the film’s release. Apparently, 17 whole minutes of footage have been unearthed that will act as a companion to the film. I have pretty much exhausted my 2001 fire by repeated viewings of it, Moon and Sunshine, which are closest, in theme, I’ve been able to find to the original masterpiece. I can’t wait!

Ninja Kick

WEC 53. Ben Henderson VS Anthony Pettis for the Lightweight belt. Towards the end of the well-balanced fight last night, Pettis jumped onto the cage and launched himself forward in true in ninja fashion, only to finish his jump with a truly epic connection to Henderson’s face. Moments later, the belt was his.

The Irishman

Who doesn’t like a good ol’ fashioned Scorsese mafia action-fest. Scorsese and De Niro first hooked up on 1973′s Mean Streets and since then both have become synonymous with the gangster flick. It looks like two will be reuniting once again on The Irishman. Initial reports have Joe Pesci, Harvey Keitel, and Al Pacino, all rumored to be connected to the film which focuses on mob hitman Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran. So far, this reads like a greatest hits list of film gangsters for all those associated. If the rumors turn out to be true we could have the next Goodfellas on our hands.
