Friday in Action — R.I.P.D, Ender’s Game and New Trailers
R.I.P.D
Dark Horse’s series R.I.P.D is apparently pretty awesome. It’s one of those comics that has been on my “to read” list for a while now, but whenever I go to read it something else, like Axe Cop or Sweet Tooth, ends up distracting me. It looks like I’m going to need to motivate myself quickly or else I’m going to have to watch the upcoming film without having read the comic, and after the Constantine incident of 2005 I refuse to do that. The upcoming film is set to star Ryan Reynolds (he’s loving the comic book arena right now) and Jeff Bridges. Check out the official synopsis below:
Welcome to the Rest In Peace Department — the devoted, yet dead, officers of divine law enforcement “patrolling the deadbeat…reporting to one boss.” Yep — THAT boss. Nick Cruz was murdered by an unknown assailant, at the height of his personal and professional life. Now he’s traded a hundred years of service to the R.I.P.D. in exchange for a shot at finding who killed him. Unfortunately his search will take him to Hell and back — literally!

Ender’s Game
It’s been a little while since we heard anything from the Ender’s Game front. Our last news came at the end of January, when Bob Orci (Star Trek) tweeted: “Ender’s Game! Us(K/O), Oddlot, and Gavin Hood taking his amazing script to the town! Who wants some?” So what’s the latest word? Summit, who is apparently getting a little antsy about the end of their Twilight cash cow, is looking for another franchise to occupy the teen fantasy niche. What better potential series to develop than Ender’s Game. Although, in my opinion Ender’s Game might work better as two films. There is a ton of content for just one film. If they attempt to make Game as part one in a multi-film franchise they may be faced with the convoluted source material of the later books. Good luck Summit, you’re going to need it.
First Class Dark of the Moon
The summer blockbuster trailers have been coming out with fierce abandon as of late, and the latest ones from two of the biggest franchises just arrived on the youtube scene today. First Class is first class and Dark of the Moon may be relegated to just that if it can’t Avenge the fallen disaster of Revenge of the Fallen.
