Goodbye But Not Game Over

Well fans, many of you may have noticed the news has been coming in a bit slower these days. No, you aren’t just delirious from the PSN being down for three weeks straight now. 30Ninjas is actually closing up shop soon, and Max, Julina, and I (and all your other favorite ninja writers for that matter) are going to be moving on to new dojos. Everything we already wrote will stay right here for your viewing pleasure, but outside of special projects and the occasional coverage of an important event, the daily stuff is going to come to a screeching halt.

It’s been a long and winding road to get to where 30Ninjas is right now. Through top ten lists, movie premieres, and eventually the world of gaming, we did our best to comb through the sand of fandom to find you the best action news and videos. Now, it is coming to a stop like the guy on his bike who wiped out in the very first video we posted to this site, and like that video we are all a little sore, but we’re getting right back up and continuing where we left off.

If there is anyone we should thank for all of this it’s you, the fans. You kept coming back time and time again to read about all of our many adventures. You read about our first few trips to gaming tournaments, about new movies that premiered at small film festivals, about the chaos that was Comic Con and E3, and about our strange musings regarding whether or not Indiana Jones or Simon Belmont was more powerful. You took us from a small blog to a respected outlet for action with tens of thousands of hits a month. For that, we salute you.

However, beyond all that, I want to thank 30Ninjas and the 30Ninjas fans personally for all they have done for me. I was able to experience so much as a 30Ninjas writer. I was able to meet some of my favorite celebrities in the movie world and idols in the gaming world. I was able to travel to new places and see new things, and work with an awesome group of writers and producers that I still want to party with even after all of this is done.

As for me, I’ll continue doing what I have always been doing. You can still see my stuff around the internet. I still make public appearances through Disorganization XIII and you can now see more of my reviews at Cheat Code Central. I’ll still be going to E3 this year, and you can see my coverage of it on those sites. As for the rest of the Ninjas? Well their own farewell articles will probably wrap that up.

Most importantly 30Ninjas was about the love of action, so faithful fans, don’t lament the site’s closing. Celebrate it! Go outside and wipe out on your own bike! Win a gaming tournament! See an action movie, light something on fire!

Because that’s really what we have always been about.

I was really sad to hear that you guys were shutting down. I’m really going to miss the fantastic videos, opinions, and articles you published–basically, I’m going to miss my favorite way to procrastinate. And also, I’d just like to say thanks once again for giving me the opportunity to work in your office last summer; I learned so much and it was one of the best experiences of my life.

I hope for the best for all of the 30Ninjas team.
