Leonardo Da Vinci . . . Action Star?
Hot on the heels of the success of Sherlock Holmes, Warner Bros. has decided that it wants to greenlight more period pictures. Since Lionsgate announced that they would be producing Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter last week, we can’t say that we are surprised that Warner has decided to go ahead with Leonardo Da Vinci and the Soldiers of Forever. Sound ridiculous? Silly? Warner Bros. doesn’t think so! The brothers Warner have also picked up pitches involving a fantasy story featuring Marco Polo, and a King Arthur project to be directed by Guy Ritchie. They are clearly trying to capitalize on the target audience who wants to see Jason Statham’s Chev Chelios in the role of the Excaliber wielding king — and by target audience we obviously mean the 30ninjas team. So what could be next for Warner, an epic space odyssey featuring Genghis Khan, maybe a western shoot’em up with Sigmund Freud? We can’t wait!
