More Details About Marvel VS Capcom 3

The news is just flooding in! Ever since Capcom showed the first glimpses of Marvel VS Capcom 3, analysts and speculators all around have been trying to sponge what little information they can from the gameplay-free trailer. Images have been released showcasing the first six confirmed characters, with a variety of silhouettes behind them. Fans all over the internet have been doing their best to figure out who these silhouettes are.

There are some that are very obvious (and exciting at that). Detailed silhouettes of what can only be characters such as Felicia (from Darkstalkers), Chun-Li (from Street Fighter), Dante (from Devil May Cry), Deadpool and Captain America can easily be seen in the art. The rest of the silhouettes are more foggy and vague but several good guesses have been made including Super Skrull, Dr. Doom, Wesker, Frank West, Ghost Rider and many others.

Unfortunately, not included in these shadowy hints is a silhouette of Ken Masters, a character that fans were hoping would be in Tatsunoko VS Capcom but was sadly absent. Ken was also not present in the original Marvel VS Capcom, however Ryu was able to go into a “Ken mode” as well as an “Akuma mode”. At the very least, we would like to see this in Marvel Vs Capcom 3.

According to Seth Killian, a community manager at Capcom, the choice of adding Chris Redfield is indicative of the direction that Capcom is going in terms of character choice. In short, we can probably expect the Capcom side of the character roster to be somewhat like Tatsunoko VS Capcom, in that we will see more choices from Capcom’s non-fighting game properties rather than many Street Fighter repeats. While no DLC plans have been locked in as of yet, Killian also said that it is entirely possible that the roster may expand via DLC at a later date.

Killian also said that story will be very important this time around. Apparently Capcom is trying to craft a story that makes sense, especially for all of the Marvel characters. Supposedly, the idea is to make a story that you might have read in a Marvel comic book. Characters will have pre-existing relationships and will form new ones as the game goes on. The story itself is basically little more than vague ideas being kicks around right now, but Killian does say that the story will be a central theme. I suppose it’s only natural that they don’t want Mortal Kombat VS. DC Universe to show them up in the story department. Killian said that more details surrounding the story will be released in the next few months.

We will bring you more MVSC3 news when it becomes available.
