New Left 4 Dead Downloadable Update: The Sacrifice

So, you guys remember when you found Bill’s corpse lying dead in the Left 4 Dead DLC The Passing? Didn’t that suck? I kind of hoped that Louis was the one who got left behind. I mean he had the least personality of all the other four survivors. Francis had his “I hate everything” spiel, Bill had his hardened war veteran persona, and Zoey was the ass-kickin chick. Louis was, just sorta the scared type and I didn’t particularly have much love for him other than his iconic “Grabbin Peels” line. Does the fact that I wanted the only black character in the L4D1 cast to die make me a racist? … Anyway.

Now you can choose exactly who you want to die in the new Left 4 Dead 2 DLC The Sacrifice. The Sacrifice was originally going to be planned for Left 4 Dead 1 and Left 4 Dead 1 only, but eventually they found that L4D1 maps are actually quite easily transferable to Left 4 Dead 2. In fact, they are so easily transferable, that the Left 4 Dead 1 campaign No Mercy will be transferred over to Left 4 Dead 2 along with The Sacrifice. Everybody wins! Well everybody except for people who don’t have Left 4 Dead 2.

The Sacrifice tells the story of the other half of Left 4 Dead 2’s DLC campaign The Passing. In it, the Left 4 Dead 1 survivors will work to aid the Left 4 Dead 2 survivors in their attempt to make it across the bridge in their stolen racecar. One of the original cast will have to die, and it will be up to the players to decide who is going to bite the bullet. This also marks the first time that the Left 4 Dead 1 cast will be playable in Left 4 Dead 2.

The new campaign will come out this October, and will launch for L4D1 and L4D2 simultaneously. It will be a free update for anyone who owns the PC version of the game, and a paid downloadable pack for anyone who owns a console version. The paid version will retail for seven dollars, just like The Passing did. The campaign will also coincide with a digital comic which will be released in the next few months, and which will tell the story of the L4D1 group up to the point that The Sacrifice starts.
