Nicolas Cage Sells His Soul to Ghost Rider 2
Nicolas Cage is going to be getting back on his demonic motorcycle. Although 2007’s Ghost Rider was almost universally panned, the film made enough money to get a sequel in today’s sequel-hungry environment. In an interview with Craig Ferguson, Cage confirmed that he is going to portray Johnny Blaze once again. Cage also said that Mark Neveldine and Brain Taylor (the writing/directing team from Crank) will be directing the new film. So what does this tell us? We can be pretty sure this new film won’t be a reboot, although Marvel is a big fan of those these days, because Cage is back as the lead. You can also bet that Ghost Rider 2 will be more violent and hopefully more entertaining, judging by who’s sitting in the director’s chair.
Whether the new Ghost Rider movie will redeem the series remains to be seen, but recasting Nicolas Cage seems like a step back towards the original movie.
