November Movies — The Everchanging Release Dates
After a long October of horror movies, horror movies, and more horror movies, it’s nice to get some balance back into our movie routine. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to get that balance because November has been the subject of no small amount of movie release date chaos. November movies have been delayed, pushed forward, and even canceled over the course of the year, so much so that no one can really trust any November movie release calendar. Still, there are some big-name action hits coming out in November that haven’t changed their release date … yet. Lucky for us, some of the titles look pretty good, and with a bit of good fortune, they won’t be moved to December, or next year, or canceled … So here are the top three movies that we hope won’t have a release date change. (Seriously, you guys, stop playing the shuffle game with these movie release dates. Our heads are spinning.)
(Release dates subject to change and the sadistic whims of Hollywood)
The Road (November 25, 2009)
The apocalypse is a hot topic these days. Somewhere along the line someone must have unearthed his old copy of Mad Max and realized that postapocalyptic movies kick some major ass. So they took that old end-of-the-world plot, removed all the campiness, stuck in a good healthy helping of Viggo Mortensen — and here we are. The movie is sort of like Lone Wolf & Cub, except Cub has grown up into a kindergartener and Lone Wolf is dying of radiation poison. OK, so maybe it’s not a whole lot like Lone Wolf & Cub, but we do get to see Viggo Mortensen shoot highway bandits with shotguns and bludgeon raiders to death with sticks. Oh, and Cheetos, we also get to see him eat Cheetos.
Ninja Assassin (November 25, 2009
The title of the movie? Ninja Assassin. The plot of the movie? Ninja Assassin. The starring actor of the movie? Ninja Assassin … er we mean Rain … no wait we were more accurate the first time. He sounds way cooler if we just call him Ninja Assassin. Think about it, Rain! Anyway, we weren’t screwing around when we said that’s what the plot of the movie was. It’s about modern day ninjas doing modern day ninja things. No more explanation needed. What’s not to love!
2012 (November 13, 2009)
Speaking of post apocalyptic ninjas! … actually take out the ninja part. This is a movie that revolves around the apocalypse happening. Specifically, it says that all those nutsos that say the world is going to end in a couple of years were right. Who will save us? John Cusack will save us! Actually, John Cusack will probably just pack up his family in a plane and take off leaving us to die horrible and wretched deaths in the wake of tsunami’s, hurricanes, and spontaneous volcanoes, so we are pretty much fucked. Still a good movie concept though!
