October Crime Dramas

So maybe horror isn’t your thing. Maybe supernatural ghoulies and crazed axe murderers are simply way too out there for you. Perhaps we can interest you in a nice crime drama then? Fall is the time when the skies get grey, the trees die, and everything becomes a bit gloomier. What better time to litter the streets with gunshots, explosions, and bandits in masks. Our October lineup of crime dramas range from the vague and poorly developed to the damn near psychotically biblical. Let’s take a look shall we?

Faster — In Theaters October 15th

Director Phil Joanou’s Faster is notorious on the internet for being one of those movies that you just have no idea about. Hell, you can’t even find trailers on the net for this thing. All we do know is that the movie is supposedly about an ex-con out to avenge his brother’s death by the hands of his partner who double crossed them during a heist. Well, we know that, and we know that the movie will star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. We also know that as much as he wants to be considered a serious actor, we can’t refer to him as anything else other than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

The Ministers — In Theaters October 16th

This is another one of those movies without a whole lot of info available about it. Once again, there is no trailer but we do know that the movie is about a NYPD detective who falls in love with her father’s killer. Sick! The movie will star John Leguizamo, and Harvey Keitel, but we have no idea who is going to be playing the female lead. No website, no press-releases, nothing except a release date. Roll out to your theaters October 16th and see what this is all about because we sure as hell don’t know.

Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day — In Theaters October 30th

Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mark Strong, William Hurt, Jonny Lee Miller, Derek Jacobi, Clarke Peters, everyone is here except Willem Dafoe, and that sucks! Boondock Saints was a great movie, and many fans are saying that we probably don’t need a sequel. Still, it will be interesting to see what they do with the premise. At least Troy Duffy has come back as the director. I don’t want to see any liberties with the plot taken for this one … unless that liberty involves Willem Dafoe.

Law Abiding Citizen — In Theaters October 16th

Remember when I said biblical earlier? Well this is what I was referencing. This movie is just catharsis in the form of Gerard Butler. It’s one man who has had everything taken away from him getting his revenge on every one in every way even though he is locked up and in prison. That, and there appears to be plenty of explosions to go around. Now if you think about this movie deeply, it brings up plenty of moral questions and conflicts about what we know as right and wrong, however if you don’t look deep, it has explosions and Jamie Foxx. Either way it is full of win.
