Can’t get enough of Shaun White’s Olympics tricks…Well, here’s a couple thousand more things to look at.
Our favorite use of new media to bring action junkies even more cool things to play with comes courtesy of NBC’s Olympic site. Check out the interactive snowboard photo collage here.
The image is actually created by strategically connecting hundreds of small photos that they somehow sync together to create the top montage. Every time you click on the image, it zooms in to the underlying photos, giving you an endless variety of Olympic moments. Keep clicking and you’ll eventually get to a smattering of size single images that you can view by scrolling up and down. There will be a total of 12 interactive mosaics that will cover the Games from start to finish. We’ve literally spent hours playing around with this, searching for new Shaun White shots.
The device was made by Mosaic Legends, a Florida and New York based company that makes killer iPhone apps for sports and rock fans. The same technology that they use on the Olympics site works in your hand held device with even more content for apps ranging from an all-access Grateful Dead tour log to an in-depth tour of the Museum of Natural History’s dinosaur collection.
Mosaic Legends’ Jonathan Schweiger told 30ninjas.com that the company will be expanding its sports offering to include a number of exciting action apps. Fans of the Sweet Science will be pleased to hear that they will soon be offering a Muhammad Ali mosaic program that Schweiger says will have more than 3,500 (!) photos of The Greatest, as well as a timeline of his career and tons of quotes and facts.
We’re drooling!
