Phoenix Pictures Goes to Hell

Phoenix Pictures has recently bought Once Upon a Time in Hell, a screenplay written by Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy, that attempts to retell the classic story of The Count of Monte Cristo in a modern day setting through a unique portrayal of London’s organized crime underworld. The idea is to make this a gritty underground crime drama, and to slip in some cultured literature when no one is looking. We support this effort, because honestly more people need to experience the classics these days, and we all would be more eager to do so if they just had more explosions. [THR]
