Pro Wrestlers Think Games are Art!
So what do you guys know about Samoa Joe? No really, we are asking you because we don’t really have any clue who the guy is. Just kidding … apparently he is some sort of awesome pro-wrestler or something? Wow, we sure aren’t increasing our action cred at all are we? Anyway, we aren’t here to talk about Samoa Joe’s backdrops or piledrivers. Instead, we are here to talk about Samoa Joe’s view on art, politics, and the evolution of media. No, seriously, we really are.
Everyone has to get in on the “games as art” debate sparked by Roger Ebert’s incredibly close-minded comments. Hell, we even got in on it with last week’s Game Over blog post. Well, Samoa Joe also wants to get in on the debate, and his comments are pretty damn intelligent. Check out a few of these tweets that we found off of Samoa Joe’s twitter feed (yes, even pro-wrestlers have twitter now. Ugh…)
Roger Ebert once said Videogames will never be “art” like film. After Playing Red Dead & Uncharted 2, You could never be more wrong sir.
Too be honest Uncharted 2 was the best action flick I saw all last year!
Anyways so I just got into Red Dead last night & I have too say its the best Multiplayer sandbox game ever. The single player is top notch
So this brings up a good point. Are action flicks art? Is Ebert saying that plots meant specifically to thrill you are worthless in the scope of art? If not, then don’t video games just do the same thing blockbuster action flicks do with button presses?
Honestly, we don’t know, but we have already said our piece on the matter. Now, we will let Samoa Joe argue in our place. Give Roger Ebert a suplex for us Joe!
