Raimi Launches Spooky Pictures
Sam Raimi’s Ghost House is launching Spooky Pictures, a banner that will produce … sigh … spooky pictures. No seriously, the whole point of Spooky Pictures is to develop cheesy horror movies for a family audience. In other words, it is making horror movies that suck. Their first project is The Substitute, a remake of a Danish (mmmm danish) thriller, that Scott Derrickson will be writing and directing. Now, Scott Derrickson did The Exorcism of Emily Rose, which was really creepy, and stands as a major vote of confidence for the whole picture, but the plot revolves around a sixth grade class trying to convince their parents that their teacher is an alien. Laaaaaaaaaame! [Variety]
