Sony Passes the Arrogance Torch

Remember that time when Sony was arrogant. OK, many of you are saying “right now” but we meant further back in time. Granted Sony did make their leading console three hundred dollars cheaper by cutting out backward compatibility, but this is nowhere near as arrogant as making their leading console cost five hundred and ninety nine U.S. dollars to begin with. None of this matters anymore, because Sony has spontaneously decided that they simply aren’t arrogant? Why? Because there is someone else in the gaming business who is more arrogant than they are. We aren’t totally sure that’s how the rules of arrogance work, but what the hell.

Anyway, it’s not us who are saying this crap load of vague dribble, it’s a Sony rep. Specifically it is Sony Computer Entertainment Australia boss Michael Ephraim. Earlier this week he told Screen Play, “I don’t think we (Sony) are arrogant anymore … I think we can name a company that is a fruit that is in the news a lot about their arrogance … I think they have taken the mantle from us, if we were ever arrogant!” So long story short, Sony is throwing Apple under the arrogance bus. Is anyone else reminded of the arguments we all used to have on the playground? Nuh-uh YOU’RE ARROGANT!

Anyway, there is a bit of weight to what Ephraim is saying. Sony is no longer trying to say their consoles are worth $600 dollars, and Apple is trying to sell you an over-sized iPod that can’t run flash video for eight hundred dollars. Perhaps there are worse things in this world than giant enemy crabs.
