So now we know that Spider-Man 4 won’t be Spider-Man 4 at all. Instead, it will be a total reboot of the franchise. The next Spider-Man movie will supposedly be an origin story … again … except this time Sony says that they are going to make the whole thing dark, gritty, and realistic. Yep, they are pulling a Batman on Spider-Man. There is only one problem, Spider-Man has never been dark and gritty! Who knows, maybe they will cast Christian Bale in the role and have him talk like a chain smoker. Marc Webb and Michael Bay have both expressed interest in taking on the series. Personally, we hope that Michael Bay gets the job, because Spider-Man totally needed more explosions. [Hollywood Insider]
