For those of us who loved Inglorious Basterds with a fierce semitic passion, it only seemed like a forgone conclusion that Quentin Tarantino would be cast in The Smurfs. Tarantino has always selected roles in films that exude campy goodness (Sukiyaki Western Django) or that he himself personally directed (Reservoir Dogs). So, it is strange that Tarantino has apparently accepted the role of everyone’s most reviled blue midget, Brainy Smurf. Tarantino will join Neil Patrick Harris and Jonathan Winters in the animated film update of the 80′s cartoon classic that pretty much no one was begging for. Yay? There are probably just too many Tarantino/Smurf jokes to list, but as long as we get one classic Tarantino foot fetish shot we’ll be satisfied.
