The Haunted Mansion Gets an Unexpected Reboot
There’s more news from Comic-Con and it’s…another reboot. Seriously, I’m starting to miss sequels. Anyway, Guillermo del Toro announced at a Disney event that he will be writing, producing, and possibly directing a 3D movie adaptation of The Haunted Mansion. Yup, like the one with Eddie Murphy that no one liked. Del Toro claims that he is a big fan of the Disney ride and that he will deliver a family-friendly horror movie that is faithful to the source material. It’s hard not to believe him, since his movies—Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth—tend to be incredibly high quality. And Eddie Murphy is officially out, so I guess it’s good that they’re doing a reboot, not a sequel. Still, let’s hope this is more like Pirates of the Caribbean and less like The Country Bears; as in, good.
