The Legend of Korra Announced! Airbender Fans Sigh With Relief
Fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender may have been disappointed by M. Night Shyamalan’s recent film adaptation…okay, they were definitely disappointed. But there is good news! Nickelodeon has announced a sequel to the animated series called The Legend of Korra. The new story will take place 70 years after the events of The Last Airbender and will follow Korra, a girl from the Southern Water Tribe and the next Avatar. All we know so far is that early on Korra will travel to Republic City, a steampunk-esque metropolis, to learn how to be an airbender from Aang’s son, Tenzin, while dealing with an anti-bender rebellion. The new series will premiere in 2011 and will hopefully give the fans what we want: great characters, beautiful scenery, and lots of 3D effects (just kidding). Thankfully Comic-Con is already here, so we may get to see even more of Korra.
