New Guilty Gear Confirmed … Eventually
SiliconEra recently had an interview with Daisuke Ishiwatari, creator of the Guilty Gear franchise. When asked whether or not we would see another Guilty Gear, Ishiwatari said “yes” we definitely would. When asked when we would see the new Guilty Gear, Ishiwatari was a little less forthcoming. “Let’s just say that you won’t be disappointed,” he said. “When that new Guilty Gear will come? I honestly don’t know – not because I can’t tell you, but because I really don’t know – but it will happen eventually!”
EA Buys Firemint
Recently, it was announced that Electronic Arts will be buying Firemint, well known iPad and iPhone portable game creators. Firemint was the mind behind Flight Control and Real Racing, two very popular iPhone games. Hopefully, this will push EA forward into the portable gaming business. The real question, is whether or not this means the design team on Firemint’s well-known indie titles will end up changing.
Amazon Offers Huge Xbox Deals
In light of Sony’s recent troubles with hackers and identity theft, Microsoft and Amazon are looking to capitalize on the portion of the gaming masses that are switching to Xbox for greater security. Xbox 360 console and Kinect bundles bought on Amazon now come with a 1600 Microsoft Points card, and $50 amazon credit. That’s like seventy dollars off, or at least seventy dollars worth of awesome games to go with your new console.
Bethesda Unveils Three More Fallout: New Vegas DLC Packs
After being accidentally leaked via publicly available trademark applications, Bethesda officially announced their next three DLC packs for Fallout: New Vegas. The packs, entitled Honest Hearts, Old World Blues, and Lonesome Road, will be coming to the 360, PC, and PS3 all at the same time, unlike previous DLC packs which hit the 360 first. May 17th will unveil Honest Hearts, with Old World Blues dropping in June and Lonesome Road dropping in July. Each DLC pack will cost ten dollars, and a recent Kotaku article goes in depth on each of the packs’ stories.
Hackers Put Linux Back on Playstation
It seems as if all this Sony drama started when they removed the PS3’s ability to run Linux as an OS. Well, it appears as if hackers finally got their way. A team of homebrew developers have created OtherOS++, which not only returns Linux functionality to the PS3, but also gives users access to the PS3’s core system files. Unfortunately, OtherOS++ only works on an old version of the PS3 firmware, so using it means you won’t be able to connect to the Playstation Network. Then again, we aren’t able to connect to the Playstation Network right now anyway!
