The Ninja Master Unveils New Game at E3
Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive, these are games that have shaped the face of gaming as we know it, and the man responsible? Tomonobu Itagaki. Known for his trademark long hair and sunglasses, Itagaki was the former head of Team Ninja, and the man responsible for some awesome advances in gaming. Not only has he created games that were unfairly hard that you kept wanting to play, he was one of the first pioneers of video-game breast physics. Yes, this guy is basically the video-game equivalent of a rockstar and he is just about to release his new album. By that we mean he has something big in store for us at E3.
Itagaki recently left Tecmo two years ago to found his own game studio dubbed Valhalla Games. Of course, the dispute was over pay, but Itagaki feels as if this new studio (also founded by members of Team Ninja who left) will give him more creative control. It is depressing to find out that Itagaki won’t be working on Metroid: Other M, and that certainly means that Samus will be far less rock and roll than we thought she was going to be. However, the idea of a game developed from the ground up with Itagaki at the helm with absolutely no superiors to tell him what to do? Well it’s a little more than intriguing if you ask us.
This is what Itagaki said on his very own Valhalla Games website:
In the past, I created four unique games – “Dead or Alive”, “Ninja Gaiden”, “DOA Xtreme”, and “NG Dragon Sword”. Thus, this announcement will be the fifth all-new project in my lifetime. I don’t know if that number is large or small, but I know as a fact that every one of these announcements was a presentation of a new gaming paradigm from me to all of you. This time, it is no different.
So in short, E3 2010 marks the grand appearance of Itagaki back on the scene. What will this new gaming paradigm be? We don’t know. However, we hope to the gamer gods that it has something to do with swords and breast physics. Perhaps with motion controls this time! Mmmmmm motion-controlled breast physics. Awesome.
