Friday in Action — The Hobbit, Abduction and Sleeping Beauty
The Hobbit Set
Peter Jackson is going to unleashing an onslaught of vlogs from the set of The Hobbit and I couldn’t be happier. Seeing The Shire, even if it is in its studio incarnation reminds me of a time not so long ago (10 years I guess) when we were introduced to Peter Jackson’s vision of Middle Earth. Two or three years can’t come soon enough!
Abduction
Official Synopsis: What would you do if you found your own picture on a missing persons website? Teen Nathan Harper (Taylor Lautner) finds himself facing this very dilemma. Setting out to uncover his real identity, Nathan quickly learns his parents are far from who they say they are. When the police, government agents and shadowy figures start to pursue him, Nathan’s quest for the truth erupts into a full-blown “Bourne”-like man-on-the-run thriller.
Bourne-like thriller? Wishful thinking my friend!
Sleeping Beauty
Sleeping Beauty from Pollen Digital on Vimeo.
Official Synopsis: Death-haunted, quietly reckless, Lucy is a young university student who takes a job as a Sleeping Beauty. In the Sleeping Beauty Chamber old men seek an erotic experience that requires Lucy’s absolute submission. This unsettling task starts to bleed into Lucy’s daily life and she develops an increasing need to know what happens to her when she is asleep.
It feels like the recent trend of taking fairy tales for children and rebooting them for more mature audiences is doing little more than ruin every last one of my treasure childhood Disney memories. Also, after this and Sucker Punch can we officially call Emily Browning a masochist?
