Ali Larter – Stalker Sensation
Clips of Ali Larter’s new movie Obsession dropped on Cinemablend.com today. Larter plays a sexy stalker in the movie who follows her obsession with a man (oh, I see what they did there) to violent ends. Larter is perhaps best known for playing identical characters who have a hard time staying alive in the hit TV show Heroes. Let’s see if she can keep her death streak going in this movie as well.
Tom Hanks — Stalker Sensation?
Cinemablend.com was busy today, as they also managed to drum up eight new clips of Tom Hank’s new film Angels & Demons. This sequel to The Da Vinci Code promises to have Hanks running from the Church once again in an attempt to uncover its dark secrets. I haven’t seen anyone run away from church that fast since … well, you probably thought I was going to make a zombie or vampire or lapsed Catholic joke there, but actually, I’ve never seen someone run away from church as fast and convincingly as Hanks does.
Russell Crowe Works the Tights
Ridley Scott’s project, once titled Nottingham (now called Robin Hood … making it the umpteenth film with the name Robin Hood in its title … way to work the boring factor… wait, what was I talking about?) has one good thing going for it: Russell Crowe. Cinemablend.com managed to snag a picture of Crowe wearing the Robin Hood getup for the first time. Merry Men have never been this sexaaaay!
Jackie Chan Supports Censorship
Hong Kong action star Jackie Chan came out in support of censorship by the Chinese government the other day to Variety Magazine, effectively backing the movement against the expansion of Chinese freedoms and rights. Fans, of course, have been outraged at the idea that such a big star would support tight governmental control, a sobering opinion that hit twice as hard in the wake of Chuck Norris’s insistence that conservative splinter cells would start a second Civil War should the country become too liberal. Why do we even care about the political views of these popcorn-film heroes, anyway? It’s not like an action star could ever parlay his onscreen popularity into the governorship of a major state, right? Oh, wait.
Transformers 2 Getting Another Bad Video Game
Superherohype.com managed to snag a sneak preview of the new Transformers 2: Rise of the Fallen video game. Though this one is significantly different from the series’ first digital installment, fans are meeting the release of this game with skepticism, almost certain that it will follow the “all movie-based games suck” rule. It also doesn’t help that the anagram for the title Rise of the Fallen, ROTF, is one letter away from commonly used Internet slang, which has caused no end of inside jokes.
Collider Gets Robert Downey Jr to Spoil Iron Man 2
Robert Downey, Jr., in an interview with Collider.com, managed to let it slip that Gary Shandling is in the cast of Iron Man 2, playing a senator who is crying out for a ban on Iron Man tech. Downey, regardless of his surprise-spoiling slip of the tongue, says he is taking this movie far more seriously than any other he has done. If that’s the case, it probably bodes ill for his upcoming movie The Soloist and his three-hour project Sherlock. But then again, I guess we could always hope to see Sherlock Holmes in Iron Man armor, you know, if it helps Downey take the movie more seriously.
Tron Sequel — Encom Returns!
Retro fans have been excited for quite a while about the upcoming Tron sequel, and now it appears as if it is going to be more retro than ever, as Aint It Cool News managed to snag a delightfully old-school set pic of an Encom building. For those of you who don’t know, Encom was essentially the original driving force behind the antagonists of the original Tron … Now GO WATCH Tron!
Zhang Yimou Making Another Movie
Zhang Yimou, director of Raise the Red Lantern and mastermind behind the opening and closing ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics, is going to start shooting another movie around late May, early June. Zhang refused to give away the plot, but did say there would be some comedic elements involved. One hopes this means we can get a Hong Kong action laugh riot, to make up for Jackie Chan’s censorship support — so long as the movie doesn’t get censored by Jackie Chan, that is. Check out the full story over at Yahoo News.
Empire Magazine Reveals Hobbit Length
Regardless of how that headline may have your mind in an incredibly immature gutter, Empire Magazine managed to have a few words with Guillermo Del Toro and Peter Jackson about their upcoming romp through Middle Earth, The Hobbit. Unlike Jackson’s previous work on The Lord of The Rings, he has decided to keep most of the elements of the book intact, and as a result has chosen to spread the story across two movies rather than to cram it all into one and make scene cuts. Both movies will be based exclusively on the book The Hobbit, which has exploded the fan rumor that the second movie might bridge the gap between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
Toby Kebell is Really a Dark Magician!
Toby Kebell has joined up with the rest of the cast of Disney’s new movie The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. His character, Drake Stone, is essentially an evil version of David Copperfield, making him the most terrifying celebrity illusionist since … well, David Copperfield. Look at pictures of his character over at firstshowing.net.
Michael Bay’s Small Project Revealed
Michael Bay has said before that he wanted to direct a small project between Transformers 2 and 3, and slashfilm has revealed that this film will be an adaptation of Pain and Gain, a dark comedy about body-builders. It is only a matter of time before Bay releases a statement on behalf of another major filmmaker, saying this will be Bay’s best movie ever.
MTV’s Look at a Rob Zombie Production
Rob Zombie commented in an interview with MTV that H2: Halloween 2 is “100 percent mine.” The costumes and sets do indeed have the gory appeal of a Rob Zombie concert. Zombie says that all restrictions have been torn down for this movie, meaning that it will most likely be far more ultraviolent than Halloween 1, but probably not as violent as a real Rob Zombie concert.
Syfy Doesn’t Let Horrible Spelling Hinder Its Talks With Will Smith
Formerly Sci-Fi (the Science Fiction Network), SyFy (the Syphillis Network???) has been in talks with Will Smith to star in their new crime show, Unfinished Business. The show will be about an ex-cop who gets disturbing memory flashes of the recently deceased. At this point, he is probably having disturbing memory flashes of his own career post-Hancock. The Live Feed has the full story.
Fallout 3 Goes To Vegas
Bethesda software has revealed the next Fallout 3 expansion pack to revolve around postapocalyptic Las Vegas. Fallout 3 expansions have been hit or miss recently, but the idea of getting postapocalyptic hookers and participating in postapocalyptic gambling is quite appealing to most gamers. 1up.com has an exclusive look.
EA to Support Fan Immaturity (Not Really)
EA’s life simulator, Spore, has long been a spawning ground of immaturity, most notably in creatures that look like giant walking penises. However, today they have come out in support of that immaturity by planning a celebration once the Spore world was inhabited with 1 million different species of penis creatures. Reps at EA link the lack of vagina monsters to a disturbing trend of unfamiliarity with the female genitalia among Spore’s gaming populace. Catch all the penis over at Gamespy.
