Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Book Set Up with Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov

We don’t normally tell you to run out and read a book. A DVD maybe, a movie certainly and a video game definitely, but a book? Only if it’s the next book from Seth Grahame-Smith (Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) called Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. This is just too good to be true, a civil war tome about Lincoln using the civil war to slaughter the vampire, slave owners of the south that is now being adapted into a film by Grahame-Smith and produced by Tim Burton and Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov. Many blogs are reporting the deal but Nikke Finke also adds the rumor that David O Russell might direct. Russell is in pre-production to direct Pride and Prejudice and Zombies right now and we love him because of Three Kings. He’d clearly be a good choice for the film.

Harrison Ford Hints at Indiana Jones 5

/Film has picked up a BBC interview by Harrison Ford that he, Lucas and Spielberg have agreed on the “germ of an idea” for Indiana 5. The Crystal Skull reportedly made close to 500 million world wide but also alienated many long time fans with a ridiculous plot, corny dialogue and only average action. We’re eternal optimists here so let’s hope that Indie 5 will grow into an action packed, voracious, strip of celluloid that swallows The Crystal Skull whole, wiping it from our fan-memory.

Dracula’s Ship Demeter May Be Getting a Captain

In Bram Stoker’s Dracula, there’s a Russian ship called The Demeter that runs aground off the coast of Whitby, England, with all the crew missing and the only body that of the captain tied to the mast. They find silver dust and dirt from Transylvania in the hold of the ship and the witnesses claim they saw an animal jumping to shore. This sounds like a damn good start to a horror film to us and, if reports from the Heatvision Blog are correct, this film, produced by Phoenix Pictures might snare “Stefan Ruzowitzky, the Austrian director behind Oscar-winning foreign film The Counterfeiters” Excellent news, excellent news.
