The Cabin in the Woods

If you hear a strange sound outside . . . have sex. First of all, best tagline of all time. Hands down. Secondly, how has this film been stuck in development for the last year and a half. TCITW was originally slated for an October 2009 release, but then with the problems at MGM and the push to convert everything into 3D, the film has been languishing on the sideline for all too long. The horror film that is looking to expand upon the popular “cabin in the woods trope” made famous by films like Cabin Fever and Evil Dead should be set to lurch onto screens this October with its latest pick up by Lionsgate. Considering the genre (horror) the crazy amount of geek credibility (directed by Drew Goddard, written by Joss Whedon, and staring Chris Hemsworth) this one should be just fine.

The Ledge

Religion is usually a difficult subject to take on in film, and it’s even more difficult when you try to fit it into a thriller that’s not something as fantastic as say, Priest. Comparisons between The Ledge and Phone Booth are somewhat unavoidable as both involve a life or death situation that takes place in real time more or less in one location. The Ledge premiered at this years Sundance Film Festival and with strong performance from Charlie Hunnam, Patrick Wilson, Liv Tyler and Terrence Howard this looks like one worth checking out.

Fringe — The Way We Died

Television promos, particularly ones for season finales, are usually exercises in frustration. You see a recap of the season complete with overly emotional music and a few millisecond shots of the upcoming episode. Well, Fringe is apparently saying screw that let’s just make a movie trailer. That is exactly what the promo for season 3 finale The Way We Died is. Season 4 has already been greenlit so you won’t be investing in something that is dead in the water if you tune in this Friday May 6, at 9:00 PM.
