See, I know you are expecting me to go into my normal rants about how movies really don’t need sequels and how we are running otherwise good movies by running them into the ground relentlessly, but I’m not. Truth be told, I am excited about Unbreakable 2. Not because I think it will be some sort of awesome new movie. No, no, no. I am excited, because will get M. Night Shyamalan the hell out of Avatar: The Last Airbender.

But I digress. Unbreakable wasn’t actually a bad movie and it did set itself up for a sequel, but we haven’t heard anything about a potential project … until now. Bruce Willis has been talking with M .Night Shyamalan about a potential Unbreakable 2, which would have actually been Unbreakable 1, which was Unbreakable 2 anyway … what? Yes, originally M. Night Shyamalan wanted Unbreakable to center around a fight between Bruce Willis’s superhero character, and Samuel L. Jackson’s supervillian character. Eventually he scrapped that idea and went with the origin story, which is fair enough because I am sure the origin story was the more interesting choice.

Both Willis and Shyamalan seem to be up for a trip to Unbreakable 2 which revisits the idea of a massive fight between the two characters, however it seems like the real fate of this project is in the hands of Samuel L. Jackson. Willis specifically has said that he will be up for doing the project if Samuel L. Jackson is up for doing it, and we sincerely doubt that Shyamalan will be making a sequel to Unbreakable without both key players. We will give you more updates as we find out more information about the project.
