Splice stars Sarah Polley and Adrien Brody as rebel biochemists (yep, apparently they do exist) who splice together human and animal DNA to create a new species. Splice was a Sundance Festival favorite this year and promises to be one of the more interesting horror flicks of the year. The director is Vincenzo Natali who has a record of rocking the festivals with his films but never really braking through to a broad audience with them. We’re keeping our fingers cross for Vincenzo that Splice goes big.

Why does a human plus an animal equal a shapeless slug? Should have just gone the Animorphs route and made it a half and half. But honestly, those slugs are terrifying.
